Stairwell Makeover Part I
When you’re young and just moving out on your own, the weight of the world hasn’t crushed you, and you don’t realize the price of groceries inexplicably differs between grocery stores. Up til now, you’ve just been hanging pictures of your friends and family without frames - just pieces of tape on the cinder block dorm walls next to the Twilight movie poster you bought for $10 at Walmart.
The point that I’m circling around is I had a shitty picture display and now with my matured eye for design and more sophisticated taste - Just kidding. Money. Now that I have more money, I’m upgrading!
Here’s where I started (as you can see, there’s an assortment of frames):
Every year, I print new pictures and frame them. I’d move all the old pictures up the stairwell so the most recent ones are closer to the bottom of the staircase. It lets me see new pictures when I’m laying on my couch.
My obsession with my tribe runs deep, but so does my desire to have a more sophisticated home. I knew that meant bigger pictures in classier frames.
I printed the pictures at FedEx and purchased the floating frames from Michael’s. The frames are 11” x 14” but the pictures are 8” x 10”. I used a single piece of folded tape on the back of the picture to keep them from sliding in the frame.
I’m thrilled with how it turned out, and I’m considering adding a couple more!
