Information About The Gallery Wall

I purchased all of the frames in a set from Target for under $100. The set came with a large poster that had outlines of all the frames with a circle for where you put the hole for the picture hanger.

Steps:

  1. Remove all decor from wall

  2. Figure out the center of the wall

    • Measure length of wall from side to side and divide that number by 2 to get you Center Measurement

    • Figure of how high up the wall you will want the highest row of pictures or the Top of the Gallery Wall

    • From one side of the wall, at the Top of the Gallery Wall use the Center Measurement to measure into the center of the wall make a mark with a pencil.

    • To double check your work, go to the other side of the wall and use your Center Measurement to measure into the center of the wall. It should line up with the point you made a pencil mark.

  3. Decide where you want the highest row to go and hang the poster with blue painters tape. Line the center of the poster up with the line you drew on the wall. *Use a smart level to ensure the poster is straight across.

  4. Drill the holes through the poster at the points marked on the poster.

  5. If you live in a townhome and have cement in your walls (like me), for some of the holes, you might need masonry bits.

  6. Take the poster down and put your picture frame hooks into the wall. I used regular nails because that’s what I had on hand. The pictures are light, so the nails work fine.

What Pictures Did You Choose?

The pictures that came in the frames are very European. I took a DNA test once and turns out (I’m 100% that bitch obviously but also) I’m mostly of African Descent. So, I’m black with black as an appetizer and black as a side dish. But like with a dessert of East European and a little midnight snack of Mediterranean. So after finishing the gallery wall I decided this is my expression of that.

Eventually I plan to replace the pictures with images more relevant to my life, things I love, and places I’ve been or would like to visit.

I love how refined and sophisticated it makes the room look, and it ties in to the design of the rest of the room so well!
