Happy New Year!

2022

I was pregnant. Entering my 3rd trimester the daily nausea had returned, heartburn, exhaustion, carpal tunnel. I would rub my belly and tell him “I got you, and we got this”.

At 33 weeks pregnant, I thought I was going into preterm labor. Crying as I drove myself to the hospital, I just kept telling him, “I got you, and we got this”.

I was induced at 37 weeks. I spent 46 hours in labor. Ultimately, I was told I’d have to deliver via C-section. After praying, I felt a calm come over me and I told him, “I got you, and we got this”.

Alone in the hospital trying to care for my baby while regaining my independence so we could go home, going home and figuring out how to be a mom, endless snuggling, going back to work after maternity leave, adventures to the sunflower field and the pumpkin patch. It was always “I got you, and we got this”.

I’m sad to leave last year behind, the best year. But the only thing that’s changed is the date. We’ll still do what we do best…be together. I got you, and we got this.
